CREATIVE TICKET AWARDS

State Level: Creative Ticket Award

The AAAE State Level Creative Ticket School Awards Program provides an important outlet for expanding recognition of the role individual schools play in providing a creative learning environment for outstanding student achievement. This awards program provides a platform for the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network and the Arizona Alliance for Arts Education to highlight schools that have developed exemplary arts education programs.

National Level: Kennedy Center Creative Ticket- National Schools of Distinction Award This Award honors up to five schools each year from across the nation that provide teaching programs in the four basic art forms (music, visual arts, dance and theatre). Each State Alliance is eligible to nominate up to five schools for consideration for the national-level award. In addition, the KCAAEN collaborates with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to recognize the K-8 Principals of the Creative Ticket National Schools of Distinction Award-Winning Schools.

NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SUMMER MUSIC INSTITUTE June 30-July 28, 2008

The Kennedy Center/National Symphony Orchestra annually sponsors the Summer Music Institute for talented young musicians. The Arizona Alliance will submit the state's top five nominees to the Kennedy Center panel. One musician from most states will be selected to participate on scholarship for the 4-week 2007 Summer Music Institute program. This program is designed for serious music students, and includes round-trip air transportation to and from Washington, D. C., housing, local transportation, and meals.

Program Description: The Kennedy Center/National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute is a 4-week summer music program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, for student instrumentalists. The program is designed for serious music students. Each student accepted into the Program attends on full scholarship, which includes the following benefits: round-trip air transportation to and from Washington, DC, housing, food allowance, and local transportation during their stay in our Nation's Capital.

  • Private lessons taught by a member of the National Symphony Orchestra
  • Chamber music coaching by NSO musicians
  • Master classes and seminars
  • Attendance at selected rehearsals and performances of the NSO
  • Participation in the NSO Summer Music Institute Orchestra, conducted by Elizabeth Schulze
  • Performance opportunities in DC metropolitan area
  • Exposure to internationally-renowned conductors, soloists, and musicians

Eligibility: The Program is open, by recorded audition, to students ages 15-20 (as of June 30, 2008) who are seriously considering orchestral music as a career and willing to devote themselves to a musical education, as follows:

Instruments: National Trustees fellowships may be awarded to students who play any of the following: violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and harp (not eligible: guitar, saxophone, percussion, and piano)

FOR SUPERINTENDENTS AND ADMINISTRATORS

The Arizona Alliance for Arts Education and the Arizona School Administrators encourage nominations of Superintendents and Administrators that have demonstrated commitment and support for arts education programs in Arizona through funding, program promotion, maintenance or expansion.

Specific criteria include:
Significance of contribution

  • Ongoing scope of the arts education programs
  • Effect of the arts program on students, teachers and the school
  • Nominee must be a member of Arizona School Administrators Inc (ASA)
  • Nominator must be a member of Arizona Alliance for Arts Education (AAAE)

    Applications are accepted all year, but must be postmarked by Friday, August 15, 2008. Early entries are strongly encouraged.
